So, obviously, this is my first blog. I love to write emails and journal, so I thought, why not write it down online so that everyone I know can read what I'm thinking about? HAHA. Anyways, Life has been AWESOME! I am currently planning on going back to Budapest in a few weeks, which I am so excited about! I am still working at a job, figuring out what the Lord has in store for my future. I am about to go on my first family vacation since 2001, which will be GREAT (in case y'all are wondering, I tend to capitalize words when I want y'all to really feel how excited I am about a specific term)!
Let me give you a bit of a background about myself. I grew up in Houston until 2002 when my family moved to Northwest Arkansas. My family (mom, dad, sister) still live in that area, and I decided to head back down to the great state of TEXAS literally after I finished my senior year of high school. My grandfather recently moved in with my parents and they are loving having him there! I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for a semester and half and left for personal reasons. Since then, I have been teaching 2 1/2 year old kiddos in a mothers day out program at my church. I love teaching kids that age, their minds are like sponges and you would be impressed with how much they know at that age. I am still in shock that they were born only a few years ago, and they can express how they feel, what they want, etc and you can understand them! I have been really praying, seeing what God is wanting me to do for the future. Last summer, I went to Budapest on a mission trip and it really changed my life. I have a HUGE passion for World War 2, specifically the Holocaust. While I was in Budapest, I was able to see and truly be touched with what the Jews of Hungary went through during that horrible time. The organization that we were working with was YWAM (youth with a mission) and their headquarters are smack dab in the middle of what was the Jewish Ghetto. I really feel that God is calling me to either teach history, or work specifically with a Holocaust museum so that we can never forget what happened.
In case y'all haven't noticed, my mind tends to go from subject to subject and gives you little time to settle into the last subject that I was discussing. That is why I have decided to call my blog, "I'm opening a window to my mind.." so that you, the reader, can read what really is going on in my mind.. cleaver huh.. hehe. Anyways, in order for me to go back to college, I have to change my career path. As much as I love my kiddos, I just don't get payed enough! GRR! So, I have to find a job that pays me more.. Anyone with any ideas, please let me know!
This summer has already gone by so fast! I can't believe it is already July! I am currently house-sitting for a women who is in Australia for the summer, and I'm taking care of her dog Jack. He is a cutie. I love having a dog to come home to and he sleeps with me (like literally, he sleeps UNDER the covers). I also love living in a house, I feel like such a grown-up.
Ok, so about my summer vacation with the family. We are leaving on Sunday and going to the Frio River. I am so excited! I have never been to the Frio River before, and it sounds so relaxing. We are going with my dad's best friend and his family. My dad has been planning this vacation for months. Right after we decided to go, he literally called me and started planning our meal list. He is so cute! The only 'person' that we will be missing is my parents dog. Her name is Chloe, and she is a yellow lab. She IS a member of our family. She goes everywhere my dad goes. She sleeps with my parents and loves to go in the car for ride. We treat her like a human, and you can tell if you ever see her. My grandfather will be going up to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit his cousins, and he is very excited about that. I recently lost my grandmother (his wife) in February and it has been hard on him. I can tell in his voice, how much he enjoys spending time with my family (at least someone is getting use of the guest bedroom, IE my bedroom). When my parents moved into their townhome I lost my bedroom, so they sent all my belongings down here when my dad visited and turned what would have been my room into a guest bedroom. I don't blame them, I go up to Arkansas like once a year.
Anyways, I've got to get ready for the week.
In his name,
Lindsey
