OK, I am SO bad about updating my blog. SORRY, life has been a little crazy. My dad and sister both had surgery last Wednesday (two totally different procedures, both are doing well). Let me give you an update on my life....
Quit job in May, have been babysitting since then. Also, got a fantastic job (volunteer) docenting (being a tour guide) at the Holocaust Museum Houston. I actually haven't started doing it yet, been training since early August. I cannot wait to start! This spring I will go back to school to study history which I am PUMPED about. I am so ready just to be done with school and start the next chapter of my life. I am not going to lie, I miss teaching, the kiddos, the coworkers that I worked with. Today would have been my first day back with the kids, oh well.
This summer has been super hard as well. My dear friends Andy and Angela left in the beginning of August to move to Hungary to start working at the international Christian school. I had NO idea how much I would miss them. Both of them were great friends of mine. Another good friend of mine, David, is leaving on Wednesday. David has been here in H-Town for the year learning the ropes of ministry and is going back to school to finish his last year of seminary. I had no idea how much it was going to hurt to say goodbye to these three friends.
I have a hard time about holding in my pain, and then it hits big time. I have to take each day at a time. I am so thankful for friends and of course my faith to help me get through the hard times. This is also the first summer I haven't gone back to Hungary since 2007. I truly miss that country, the culture, everything!!! The lifestyle over there is so laid back and relaxed, and here I'm freaking out if I'm two minutes late. Definitely trying to work on that.....
On a lighter note, I'm running the half marathon in January.. EEK!! I know, you are thinking, um.. why?!?! I am running for a fantastic charity called CanCare. If you have cancer, they match you with a volunteer that will be your go person, helping you and being your support. My mom had pancreatic cancer in '96 and she went through cancare. This organization was fantastic, my mother truly got alot out of it. Since my father has prostate cancer, I thought, why not choose this organization. So thats why I'm running..... Also running a 5k in early October and a 10k at the end of October. More to come on that later...
I'm off, I believe the A/C isn't on at Dunn Bros, and it's quite warm in here. Until then..
